
I had heard about this scam for years, but never was on the receiving end until yesterday.
Took an incoming call from a tearful-sounding young women who said, "Grandpa, it's your granddaughter". Followed by more fake crying.
The scammers quickly realized I wasn't falling for it (we don't have a granddaughter) and they hung up.
Don't be scammed! Here's a tip: If you get this call, immediately use a fake name to address the alleged grand-kid. When they answer to the fake name, hang up.
